1. An online lesson platform such as Zoom, Facetime or Skype. I prefer to teach on Zoom as there are more teaching options; 2nd camera options, sharing pages etc.

2. A way to view the teacher. In my experience a PC is the best option here; the screen is large enough to view anything shared/demonstrated on my 2nd camera. Cell phones are doable but not optimal in viewing the teacher. Ipads are a bit better.

3. A good condenser mic. This is really important to help teach tone production. With a good mic I can hear the students music well. The mic on a cell phone is not ideal but doable. The mic on an ipad is a bit better. As an option headphones can be worn to help hear sound better. I may have students record themselves from time to time to send to me. I can review tone production in this way too.
4. A table or stand to set up your pc, tablet or phone. Get creative here! I've seen parents come up with some really creative set ups that work great; using tv trays, wooden boxes etc. Tip: It is important to set set your camera up so that I can see the students profile. In this way I will have a good view of their hands, arms, and even the keys both black and white. I will help students set up their equipment so that I can see them well.

4. Enough band width to allow for good streaming. Here are some tips!

-
Use an Ethernet instead of wifi if you can.
-
Test your internet speed (speedtest.com). Ideally looking for 10 mbps download and 5 mbps upload; Speedtest.net
-
If using wifi, move closer to the router
-
Consider getting a wifi booster.
-
Close extra tabs and apps.
-
Ask other household members not to stream during the lesson.
