The first step  in preparing for lessons is to reach me by email; mrossborough@gmail.com.  I can initially answer some basic questions.  If you find you are interested we can then set up a small interview.  This is where we will get to know each other better, go over the Studio Policy and the Studio Offerings, as well as your goals, hopes and dreams.  I can also give you a free mini-lesson just so that you can have a taste for what lessons will be like.

Here is how in studio lessons work:

  • Weekly lessons; 30 -45 minutes depending on the students level.

  • You bring your books and your progress to class.

  • We begin with appropriate level technique to warm up your fingers and learn about patterns on the piano; scales, chords, inversions, arpeggios.

  • We review and learn from your current pieces.

  • We add new pieces as needed.

  • Practice makes progress!

What is needed for lessons: At the present time during the pandemic lessons are online only.

A decent piano is preferred however a decent keyboard can suffice; 88 weighted keys, touch sensitive, pedals.

Acoustic instruments need to be tuned 1 to 2 times a year.  Please keep that in mind if you want to keep motivation for practice high!
